MASTERING:
Many people
underestimate the difference good mastering can make to a project. It
is often an afterthought and sometimes overlooked entirely.
However this process can not only help your music stand up to
comparison with commercial material, but also make for a better
listening experience across a range of audio systems, ensuring a solid
bass, sparkling top end and clear midrange.
In its simplest form, mastering is the process of preparing your music
to be burnt to cd for manufacture or distribution online.
The final mixes are taken, arranged in order, their volumes normalised and the correct spaces placed between individual tracks. All of this is crucial to making sure that your project flows from track to track and avoids distracting jumps in level. Mastering also usually involves processing the mixes using a combination of compression, EQ and limiting.
Much like the use of compression and EQ at the mixing stage - to even out levels and get the right sonic balance - when mastering they help make your music louder, punchier and most importantly sound good on a range of audio systems, from iPod to home stereo.
You can send your music to us electronically or by snail mail on a dvd or cdr. We will mail you upon receipt. Ideally try to ensure that your files are 16 or 24 bit wav or aif files on a cd or dvd.
Once transferred to our studio, we pass your music through processors applying a combination of full band compression, equalisation, stereo width adjustment, multi-band and full stereo limiting. Once mastered we check your tracks across various audio systems. We then fine tune frades, spacing and levels.
Finally your tracks are burnt in real time onto an audio disc in the format of your choice.
